Novel Writing Workshop - in person, Winchester: Feb-May 2026
Course Description
Over 10 weeks, Helen Cullen will support aspiring novelists in the writing and editing of their novels through their participation in the long-established writing workshop format.
A maximum of 10 writers will be invited to participate in the workshop.
Each week up to 5 students will receive feedback from both Helen and the other writers. This means each writer will receive feedback on up to c.3,000 words on four separate occasions.
In advance of week 1, each writer will be asked to share an extract/overview of their work to introduce themselves and their novel to the group for discussion.
In Week 10, each writer will be invited to share any final questions/concerns and Helen will answer questions on publishing and next steps.
The format supports deep learning and writer development as the workshop is underpinned by an understanding that writers improve their own writing craft by, not only receiving feedback on their own work, but by the close reading and critiquing of the work in progress of other writers.
Helen Cullen is highly experienced in facilitating workshops to ensure that they are a supportive and positive environment in which to learn.
The course is aimed at those who are already working on a novel or those who feel ready to begin writing one and who also have the time to commit to reading the work-in-progress of their fellow workshop attendees.
