Join Helen Cullen on August 20th for a Virtual Book Launch for The Truth Must Dazzle Gradually/ The Dazzling Truth

Solid State Books, Washington DC, will be hosting the virtual book launch for Helen’s second novel, The Truth Must Dazzle Gradually/The Dazzling Truth.

Helen will be in conversation with renowned poet Maggie Smith. Maggieis the author of four books, most recently Good Bones (Tupelo Press, 2017) and the forthcoming Keep Moving: Notes on Loss, Creativity, and Change. Her poems and essays have appeared in the New York Times, Tin House, Poetry, The Believer, The New Yorker, the Washington Post, and the Paris Review. A freelance writer and editor, Smith is on the poetry faculty of Spalding University’s MFA program and serves as an Editor at Large for the Kenyon Review.

There will also be a special musical performance by Matthew Caws from Nada Surf. A witty and literate melodic rock band, Nada Surf initially gained cult status with their '90s alt rock anthem "Popular" before issuing a slew of beloved albums that won hearts and minds across the world. 2018 saw the New York City-based band celebrating the 15th anniversary of their seminal Barsuk Records debut album, Let Go. Never Not Together, their ninth studio album was released in 2020 to huge critical acclaim.
